Catastrophic events caused a near total collapse of our modern civilisation. Super storms wiped out cities, power grids and infrastructure leading to widespread civil disorder. Severe heat waves, drought and desertification turned farm lands to desolate dust bowls, food shortages and starvation resulted on a global scale. Tectonic plates shifted drastically triggering volcanic eruptions, earthquakes and tsunamis changing the geography and climate. Sea levels rose fifty feet. Industries, transportation and financial markets collapsed as a Great Depression took effect. Civil and global wars escalated. Medical supplies depleted and disease wiped out the majority of the remaining population.

Many areas of the world are no longer inhabitable. Coastal cities are claimed by the ocean. Super storms, earthquakes and volcanoes disrupt rebuilding societies. Plants, animals and some people have mutated. Knowledge and information of our past has been lost, technology has reverted and those with access to resources are powerful territories, creating a volatile divide in the social classes.
